Shortcuts to Enhance your Readings with AI

Having summaries for articles or YouTube videos from wuko.ai is convenient, as you can find these summary bookmarks in your familiar email clients on mobiles and desktops. But for quick bookmarking, composing an email to get a summary bookmark can feel clunky.

Generally, it only needs one or two taps/clicks to bookmark web content via the browsers or apps. In comparison, to send an email, it would need to:

  1. Copy the URL
  2. Open the mail app
  3. Add read@wuko.ai as a recipient
  4. Paste in the URL
  5. Add the question (optional; by default, it replies with a summary)
  6. Send the email

It takes more steps than the general bookmarking workflow. Fortunately, there are ways to simplify the workflow of interacting with wuko.ai, including Apple Shortcuts and Web Automation, such as IFTTT and Zapier.

Option 1: Apple Shortcut

Shortcut is a way to automate interactions across different applications on Apple devices, such as iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It allows users to create a shortcut to automate the steps of sending an email as described above. Here is a shortcut hosted on RoutineHub that you can add to your Apple devices to automate for wuko.ai.

Add/Create a shortcut

The shortcut can be triggered by the share buttons from apps like Chrome, Safari, or the YouTube app. It will then automatically fill the URL in the body and the read@wuko.ai as the recipient. What you need to do next is simply confirm the email. Compared with the sending email workflow list above, you just need two clicks/taps:

1. Trigger the share button (Safari browser)

2. Choose the shortcut

Furthermore, it allows you to customize the query by modifying the shortcut to fill in the query in the email body.

    Customize shortcut

In theory, the Apple shortcut should allow you to set up conditions to use different queries in the email body. For example, you could set up a condition that uses a query “summarize the video with key points and timestamps” if the URL is on the YouTube domain.

    Option 2: Web Automation

Another way to integrate with wuko.ai is to use a web automation service like IFTTT or Zapier. In our case, these automation services are obviously useful when it is used with read-it-later services, such as Instapaper. Instead of setting up automations that run locally on your devices, like the shortcut introduced above, these web automation services do the job in the background on the web for you.

Take this IFTTT applet, for example, it is configured to integrate with your Instapaper and Gmail. Once an applet is set up, whenever a new item is added to your Instapaper account, it will automatically compose an email using a template on your behalf and send it to read@wuko.ai, which then will send you a summary email.

Therefore, with web automation, wuko.ai can be seamlessly integrated with your existing read-it-later apps. What is required is to set up an integration using these web automation portals. Your reading experiences with the read-it-later apps will remain the same, but you will have additional AI features through your email service.

If you are already using a read-it-later / bookmark app and you want to get a summary from it or apply AI features to it, setting up a web automation could be a good choice.

Also, as the Android OS doesn’t yet have a native shortcut feature like Apple’s, using a web automation service can be an option for Android users.

    Conclusion

Since the AI service of wuko.ai is based on email, it is not tied to specific mobile apps or desktop applications. As long as you can access your email client, you can use it. This makes it highly customizable, as discussed above, with integrations with Apple Shortcuts and Web automation. Your existing read-it-later reading experiences can be enhanced with AI features using web automation, while their accessibility can be simplified by Apple shortcuts.
